Ye Gods. I was there a year ago, and am currently missing the Keys badly!! Key West is the 'tourist trap key', fun for what it is, especially after dark- given you're over 21-the haha... the super nice keys are the middle keys though. Locals, and extremely laid back island vibe!!! I'm in Utah now, but this post took me back! ;) and yes, Sid (if you ever see this, haha) Key Lime pie is made with a custard made from Key Limes which are tiny sweeter, yet tarter? Than average limes. Soo good. I hilly recommend also trying "Kermit's" to anyone who stops at Key West! As well as the marker for the Southernmost point in the US ;) loving your blog, Brooke!

I'm stuck here in Texas. And I wish to go back to my home in Kaunas, but I can't just drop out of school and try and get the money to go back. I guess I'm just stuck here for a while... what to do.......

If the world as we know it ever implodes in a post apocalyptic nuclear destruction I would imagine any survivors would all be left living like this....As the experienced ones in this type of lifestyle the guys/gals living in Slab city would naturally become the leaders of the new world..... Gulp......I hope I die in the first strike.....although since there would probably be no Justin Bieber or Simon Cowel so perhaps it might be worth hanging around....every cloud (even a nuclear one) has a silver lining

I'm impressed that you were willing to go (alone) into this community, meet people, and get a good idea of what life is like there. I can say for sure that I never would have done that. I might get out of the car with a friend and walk around, but that would be the end of it. Very interesting though.

It’s hard to believe that Leonard Knight was institutionalised, I blame the people who donated lead based paints to his little project....
