The “Killossal” Challenge at B & B Grocery, Meat & Deli
My friend Alex decided it was time to attempt another eating challenge (you can read about his prior challenges here and here). He did some research and came up with a monster sandwich at B & B Grocery, Meat & Deli in Des Moines:
The “Killossal” sandwich is made up of 4 cheeseburgers, a bunch of deli meats, veggies, and a giant pork tenderloin. The challenge comes with a 20 minute time limit. Prior to Alex, no single individual had come close to finishing the entire sandwich. We were told that most Killossals are sold to families of 4 or 5 to share.
This, of course, did not deter Alex. He dug in and dominated the sandwich like most people dominate a normal cheeseburger after a prolonged diet. Seriously, the time-lapse video I recorded is 5 SECONDS long.
Al deemed the Killossal as the tastiest challenge yet. I ordered a normal-sized pork tenderloin and concur with this assessment. I’m not sure where we’re going to head next, but someone please tell the Man v. Food guy that Al is coming after him and means serious business…
And, as always, a video:

Wow, that guy sure can eat! Look out Man v. Food!!
We were told that most Killossals are sold to families of 4 or 5 to share.
I can just image the carnage if the family unit contained 5 Alex’s style eaters, not even the waiter would be safe….
The third picture looks like Alex’s stomach after dissection… I’ve gained 2 stone just reading this week’s blog….
I can’t help but think that the restaurant made a tactical error in cutting up the “Killossal” sandwich for Alex….It looks like about a half hour job just to hack through the damned thing and that would be with a chain saw….
If you gained weight just reading about it, imagine how much I gain actually watching him eat.
And, yeah, it was nice of them to cut it up. However, it was better for the photo op. I don’t think it makes much difference to Alex; it’s not like he goes out of his way to use silverware and manners…. ;)
