Hawthorn Hill

I had these photos prepared months ago but obviously, forgot about them. I stumbled upon them this morning, so voilà, a new post.

My mom grew up in Dayton, Ohio, so I’ve spent quite a bit of time there, my most recent visit being last December. Hawthorn Hill, the home of Orville Wright, is located blocks away from my late-grandmother’s home. Orville Wright and his brother Wilbur are generally credited with building the first successful airplane.

Hawthorn Hill is located in the suburb of Oakwood and was intended to be the home of both Wright brothers. However, Wilbur died in 1912 before the home’s completion in 1914:

    It looks better than Graceland, which I always think looks like a bit of a disapointment in pictures…

    Sad that Orville never got to live there….
